Branch Meetings

Branch meetings are held in Christchurch on a bi-monthly basis, starting with the February meeting each year.

Meet newly graduated or experienced technical writers in the Canterbury region over some nibbles and refreshments during a 30 minute pre-presentation “Meet and Greet”. Speaker presentations normally run for about 40-50 minutes including discussion question/answer time.

  • Usability: Who Cares?
  • Web Standards and their Use
  • Learning Needs Analysis and Course Design
  • The Art of Extracting Information
  • Online Help Showcases.

Training Workshops

In addition, training workshops are scheduled 2-3 times each year. Previous workshops include:

  • Plain English for technical communicators
  • Curriculum Vitae – Art or Science?
  • Clinical skills for editors
  • Information development for online delivery
  • Writing effective procedures.

Christchurch Branch has many members that work in the engineering, telecommunication, electrical, IT, government and manufacturing industries. We cover a wide range of technical writing areas from web and information design; online help systems; equipment / product manuals; technological equipment information design through to marketing and sales documentation; training documentation and information systems; plus much, much more.
