Webinar: Google Analytics - Basic

Session overview

Google Analytics is arguably the most well-known web-statistics package - and it's free! It has many great features for e-commerce sites and marketers. However, these features are sometimes completely useless for information-based websites that are not selling anything and which may be hidden from the public view.

Graeme Wilson from Streamliners Ltd, will present two Google Analytics webinars. The first will be on the 1st December and the second follow up will be on the 8th December 2015.

This first webinar is suitable for those with little or no experience in using Google Analytics. It is assumed that you may not have the Google Analytics tracking code on a website, so this will be covered.

He will focus on the features that may be useful for technical communications websites, especially where there may not be identifiable goals for user behaviour (e.g., nothing is being sold) and where there is no traffic from search engines. He will be using the HealthPathways websites as a case study for how to get the most from Google Analytics when only a limited number of basic features can be used.

He won't be covering e-commerce topics such as goals and conversions. Instead, he will focus on statistics that may be useful for reporting to stakeholders and understanding user actions.

The first webinar will cover:

  • Setting up a Google Analytics account and tracking code
  • Reporting basics
  • Metrics and dimensions
  • Traffic sources
  • Views - excluding and including IP addresses
  • Site search analytics
  • What to report on
  • Scheduling reports to be emailed
  • Case study: HealthPathways analytics reporting
  • Questions and answers

The first webinar will be held on Tuesday 1st December from 11:00 am-12:00 noon NZ time.(9:00 am - 10:00 am AEST).
