The Company:

A familiar face with a new name, we’ve been developing travel, expense and payments technology for the last 15 years. You might know us as Spendvision, but we’ve been through some big changes recently and that name no longer reflects who we are or what we do.

In 2012 we joined forces with the technology team from Hogg Robinson Group and there’s been no stopping us! Bringing together the Group’s technical expertise has allowed us to further develop our integrated travel and expense management solutions and we can now give companies a better way to manage their entire business spend – freeing up staff, increasing control and saving money. We love developing technology but it’s the impact it has on our customers' businesses that really excites us. For us, giving customers freedom of control over all their spend is what it’s all about, and we wanted a new name to reflect that.

So we’re Fraedom. But we’re not just any old technology company. We’re different, so we spell it a little differently too.

The Job:

Due to an internal role change, we are now looking for a Technical Writer to join our ace team of tech writers.

The main purpose of this role is to support the creation of high-quality technical product documents for Fraedom. These documents include, but are not limited to: release notes, confluence wiki pages, online help updates and user guides.

The role also involves the management of tasks related to the creation and maintenance of interface strings and the translation of those strings. This includes ensuring strings are written for successful translation, resolving translation-related tickets and change requests, and helping with any new translation projects, such as the addition of a new language.

The role might also involve leading, or contributing to, technical projects to improve how we create and deliver technical documentation for Fraedom customers.

Valuable Skills and Experience:

  • Technical authoring experience within an Agile Scrum environment.
  • Several years’ (3+) experience using Author-it (or similar authoring tool), including much of its advanced functionality.
  • Experience with localization and/or Author-it Localization Manager.
  • Strong understanding of technical writing processes and principles.
  • Strong understanding of design, structure and the layout of information.
  • Strong understanding of content output and publishing.
  • Solid proofreading/editing experience.
  • Ability to lead or contribute to writing/translation/technical projects.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Excellent visual communication skills, e.g. diagrams, flowcharts, use cases and scenarios.
  • Understanding (or interest in) the linguistic structures of other languages and the ability to speak and/or write other languages an advantage.
  • Has a positive and achievement-focused attitude. Demonstrates determination in approaching activities and persistence when faced with challenges.
  • Takes personal ownership of work and projects. Sets and meets realistic deadlines. Is highly responsible and reliable.
  • Is committed to quality and attention to detail. Willingly adopts existing processes and standards but shows a desire to analyse and develop these where possible.
  • Shares expertise freely and presents opinions in productive ways. Listens effectively and encourages constructive feedback. Works to build and support the team.
