Education is the kindling of a flame

February 2016

I've just been reading this month's Let's Tech Communicate, and Leah Guren's advice to new technical communicators contains a golden nugget for us all.

Keep learning

She urges us to keep learning, and not just about subjects that we need right now. For example, even if your company doesn't require you to know how to write for translation, or how to make videos, or how to write API documentation, you will benefit from learning about any of these. Maybe your company will too. Or maybe you'll be equipping yourself for a new role somewhere else.

Socrates said "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel".
