Plain English Awards give way to Clarity Conference

March 2016

We’re excited to announce that Clarity’s next international conference will be held in Wellington, New Zealand on 3–5 November 2016. Called ‘The Business of Clarity’, the conference will consider an evidence-based approach to the benefits of accessible writing in law, business, and government. Clarity International is the international association that promotes plain legal language.

Write Limited, founding sponsor and Plain English Awards administrator, has taken on the enormous job of hosting the international Clarity2016 conference. Lynda Harris and her colleagues at Write will have their hands full hosting this exciting event, so the 2016 Plain English Awards will feature only the well-known People’s Choice Awards — Best Communication and Worst 'Brainstrain' Communication.

Clarity2016 will have a strong focus on practical, interactive learning. The conference promises compelling keynote and plenary speakers. It will also feature interactive workshops, case study presentations, panel discussions, mentoring appointments, and ‘speed learning’ events. The conference will of course have a legal theme along with topics relevant to all sectors and industries.

We know how important it is to connect with colleagues old and new and to have some fun! You’ll have plenty of time for relaxing and networking with a welcome reception, an informal ‘This is New Zealand’ social evening, and a gala dinner planned, as well as generous coffee and lunch breaks in between the daytime sessions.

Earlybird registrations and the call for papers are open now. For more information, go to the Clarity2016 conference website: www.clarity2016.org
