Microsoft and Google at Collaborate2017

December 2016

Ho, ho, how we have loaded the Christmas stocking with Conference news... Read on, and we'll tell you why you won't want to miss the TechCommNZ collaboration event of 2017!

Conference keynotes

Not only is The Content Wrangler, Scott Abel, flying south for his Spring, but so is (drum-roll please) Doug Kim, Senior Content Manager at Microsoft in Seattle. We will also be welcoming Patrick Hofmann, (User Experience Designer) at Google in Sydney.

Patrick is a popular speaker at TechCommNZ events. He's an acknowledged guru of things graphical, and always entertains with memorable presentations. However, as this is Doug's first trip down-under, you might need an introduction...

Doug spent his formative years in journalism, where he eventually became Arts and Entertainment editor of The Seattle Times. He’s been at Microsoft for eight years, where, amongst other things, he’s led efforts to revamp the voice and tone of content and UI text in the Microsoft Office suite and improve video and multimedia content.

More recently, he drove the content strategy for the Bing-based content form known as Instant Answers for Windows 10. While continuing to nurture Instant Answers, he leads a team focused on accessibility, Inclusive Design and Microsoft’s experimental new Virtual Support Agent. So yes, he went from editing Britney Spears reviews and restaurant coverage to technical content, but in his mind it all makes sense.

Little known fact: Doug once got into a shouting match with Sean Connery. No winner was declared, but it makes for a good story and you should register now so you can be sure of hearing it directly from Doug!
