When we asked, you said...

March

Thanks to the 61 TechCommNZ members who took the opportunity to provide feedback on this newsletter (Tech Comms Today) and the TechCommNZ blog, via our online survey. Denise Grealish reports on the main results.

The TechCommNZ newsletter is widely read by members (84%), however only half of members read the blog (52%).

What you liked...

You said the newsletter:

  • Keeps you up-to-date and is relevant and easy to read.
  • Helps you to increase your knowledge.
  • Contains varied but relevant content.

The most popular column in the newsletter is the ‘Let’s tech communicate - stories from around the net’.

“Minimal content, simplicity, good interesting story-telling that makes content engaging.”

You said the blog:

  • Provides you with a place to learn and think.
  • Offers you the opportunity to hear the views of peers and participate in discussions.
  • Has interesting, informative, and immediate content.

You said you like the informal style of the blog, and your favourite articles are about tools and skills.

“… new ideas which I can adopt”

What you thought could be better:

You suggested that we should:

  • Improve the visibility of the newsletter and blog. Those who hadn't read the newsletter/blog said it was because they didn’t know there was one.
  • Consider covering more challenging and cutting edge topics.
  • Clarify the point of difference between the blog and the newsletter. Some members were unable to see the difference and thought there was overlap.
  • Make the content inclusive of all members. Not everyone is familiar with the organisation or with who's who in the industry.
  • Make access to the blog more direct on the website (we've now done this).
