Ways to Demonstrate Your Worth

April

In our regular Southern Communicator feature, we showcase an older article from this Australasian journal - one which is particularly relevant in the month of the Annual Salary Survey. Saul Carliner's 2013 article "Communicate the Value of our Products and Services" remains relevant in 2015.

Data alone does not demonstrate the value of communication products and services – communication does. Following are five ways to communicate how you've added value, and what you've achieved, to the internal or external clients you serve:

  1. Information designs
  2. Project status reports
  3. Post-mortems
  4. Annual reports
  5. Informal communications

For the full article explaining this, and a Template for an Annual Report to Stakeholders of Technical Communication Groups - which might be your secret weapon for a pay rise - see the June 2013 issue of Southern Communicator.

To access the journal, you must log in to the TechCommNZ website, then select Member Area > Southern Communicator Journal.
