From the President

July 2015

The big news this month is that CPIT's Graduate Diploma of Information Design is winding down owing to "changing industry needs". As Chair of the GDID Advisory Committee I was pretty disappointed to hear this news, and I and other colleagues are keen to talk to CPIT about a positive future for a revised version of the qualification. There is absolutely no doubting the ongoing relevance of this qualification to industry - we are a profession in demand! The membership of TechCommNZ has grown by over 70% since September 2013.

Bruce Russell, a former GDID student and lecturer, and CPIT's current Manager - Art + Design, discusses the reasons for the decision, and the future possibilities for information design trainingat CPIT, in this month's newsletter.
