TechCommNZ is delighted to support the Plain English movement in New Zealand by once again sponsoring this year's award for Best Plain English Technical Communicator. This category started in 2010, and is well supported each year – but who is going to be this year's winner?

2010 - Meredith Evans, Streamliners NZ Ltd
2011 - Sarah Grundy, Department of Conservation
2012 - Sarah Burns, Telecom New Zealand Limited
2013 - Kylie Mason, Ministry of Health 2014 - ???? - it could be you!

Entries are open until 5pm on Friday, 12 September 2014. You can enter in more than one category, and of course there's always the Brainstrain category for dobbing in a badly-written document or website. For more information, including the full list of categories, visit plainenglishawards.org.nz.

Emily Cotlier, Plain English Awards judge and TechCommNZ committee member says:

"We find that having the Plain English Awards leads to a quality boost for each category's writing field. Last year's awards were very close, with some strong contenders as finalists. If you are considering entering in the Technical Communicator category, remember that the format of your entry itself is a form of technical communication! Entries benefit from an introduction page."

Good luck - and may the odds be ever in your favour...
