Auckland Branch Event - Copyright in 2014 with Creative Commons
This event has been cancelled
Please join us online for a discussion on current copyright issues and alternatives. In this session, Matt McGregor from Creative Commons Aotearoa New Zealand will open a broad discussion around copyright and open access in 2014. After introducing common problems with twenty-first century copyright, we will learn about the Creative Commons licences. We will learn how to find free and legal resources online, and how CreativeCommons licensing can be used to openly release works for wider distribution and reuse. Matt will close with several case studies of CC-licensed works in Aotearoa NZ from the arts, government and education.
Creative Commons is an international non-profit organisation that provides free legal tools to enable people to share and reuse copyrighted works. The vision of Creative Commons is universal access to research and education, as well as full participation in culture. Creative Commons Aotearoa NZ is particularly interested in ensuring that publicly funded copyright works are made open by default, to enable the active reuse of New Zealand’s culture and knowledge.
